  • Account information: name, email address, password, and role (technician or company).
  • Profile information: city, state, zip code, phone number, specialties, bio, years of experience, profile photo, and portfolio images.
  • Company information: company name, website, description, and logo.
  • Job post content: job title, description, location, compensation, and contact details.
  • Payment information: billing details processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number on our servers.
  • Communications: messages sent through the Site, contact form submissions, and email correspondence.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data: pages visited, time spent on pages, referring URLs, browser type, device type, and operating system.
  • IP address: used for rate limiting, security, and approximate geographic location.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: session cookies, authentication tokens, and analytics identifiers (see Section 5).

1.3 Google Calendar Data

If you choose to connect your Google Calendar, we access only your free/busy information to display your availability on your profile. We never access, read, store, or share the titles, descriptions, attendees, or any other details of your calendar events. You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time from your dashboard privacy settings.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Directory listing: displaying your public profile in our searchable technician directory so companies and event producers can find and hire you.
  • Crew management: enabling companies to search for, message, and manage crews for their productions and events.
  • Communication: sending transactional emails (account verification, password resets, notifications) and, with your consent, promotional updates.
  • Payment processing: processing subscriptions, job post purchases, and featured listing fees through Stripe.
  • Analytics: understanding how the Site is used so we can improve the experience and identify issues.
  • Security and integrity: rate limiting, fraud prevention, abuse detection, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
  • Legal compliance: complying with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes.

3. Third-Party Services

We share information with the following third-party service providers, each of which has its own privacy policy:

  • Amazon Associates — our Resource Center may contain affiliate links to products on Amazon. Amazon may collect data through those links per their privacy policy.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Sharing

Beyond the third-party services listed above, we may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Public profile data: information you include in your technician or company profile is publicly visible in the directory.
  • Legal requirements: when required by law, subpoena, court order, or governmental request.
  • Business transfer: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the successor entity.
  • With your consent: when you explicitly authorize us to share information with a specific party.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use the following types of cookies:

  • Essential cookies: required for authentication, session management, and Site security. These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies: used by Google Analytics to collect aggregated usage statistics. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Advertising cookies: used by Google AdSense to serve relevant ads. You can manage ad personalization at Google Ads Settings.

After account deletion, we may retain certain information as required by law (e.g., payment records for tax purposes) or to resolve disputes. Anonymized, aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytics.

7. Google Calendar — Limited Use Disclosure

FreelanceAudioVisual.com's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

  • We only request access to your calendar's free/busy information.
  • We never read, store, or share event titles, descriptions, attendees, locations, or attachments.
  • We do not use Google Calendar data for advertising or to serve ads.
  • We do not allow humans to read your Google Calendar data unless you provide explicit consent, it is necessary for security purposes, or it is required by law.
  • You can revoke access at any time through your dashboard privacy settings or through your Google Account permissions.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, secure session management, and regular security reviews. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers. While we take reasonable precautions, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Privacy Rights (CCPA and State Laws)

If you are a resident of California or another state with applicable privacy legislation, you may have the following rights:

  • Right to know: request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
  • Right to delete: request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to correct: request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of sale: we do not sell your personal information. If this changes, we will provide a "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" link.
  • Non-discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
